Job summary

NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) invites experienced leaders to join as Team Lead Environmental Planning in our Infrastructure Development & Delivery group. Based in Wellington with flexibility across NZ, you will guide a team of environmental planning professionals and influence planning and consenting outcomes across projects from early development through delivery.

You'll work with iwi, local authorities and agencies to ensure sustainable transport outcomes, steer environmental practice, and

Qualifications

Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Extensive experience in environmental/resource management planning or related statutory processes.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Experience influencing complex programmes and delivering pragmatic outcomes.
Strategic thinking with ability to prioritize across competing goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of planning legislation, policy and transport-related decision-making processes.
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Lead a high-performing team of environmental planning professionals, providing technical leadership and development.
Provide strategic leadership on environmental planning practice and navigate consenting challenges across projects.
Represent NZTA in regional and national forums and influence outcomes.
Support projects from early development through to delivery to embed planning excellence.
