Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency invites applications for a Team Lead Environmental Planning role, based in or near Wellington with flexibility to consider other NZ locations. Lead a high-performing team, guide environmental planning across the project lifecycle, and influence consenting outcomes that shape New Zealand’s transport network.

You will work with project teams, iwi, local authorities and industry partners, providing strategic leadership, coaching and development to deliver pragmatic

Qualifications

Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Extensive environmental / resource management planning experience.
Knowledge of planning legislation, policy and transport decision-making processes.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of environmental planning professionals and provide technical leadership.
Support projects from early development through to delivery.
Influence planning and consenting outcomes across a diverse portfolio.
Engage with iwi, local authorities and industry partners.
Represent NZTA in regional and national forums.
Navigate complex consenting and statutory planning challenges.
