Job summary

InterContinental Wellington is seeking a reliable Kitchen Steward to support our kitchen and restaurant teams, helping maintain cleanliness, quality and high standards across operations. You will contribute to a five-star guest experience by assisting colleagues and ensuring smooth daily kitchen activities.

This role suits a team player who can follow directions, lift up to 10kg, and read and write English.

Qualifications

• Team player capable of following directions and supporting colleagues.
• Good reading and writing English for daily tasks.
• Physically fit with ability to lift objects over 10kg.
• Willingness to be proactive and take initiative.
• Prior experience in a similar kitchen or steward role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, quality and standards in the kitchen and restaurant areas.
• Provide overall support to kitchen operations and other departments to ensure a five-star guest experience.

Your day to day

As a Kitchen Steward, your role is the foundational for our Kitchen and Restaurant operations, with no two days being the same. You’ll help keep our cleanliness, quality and standards to the highest level by giving overall support throughout kitchen operations and other departments to ensure our customers and guests experience a five-star service and the InterContinental brand is brought to life

What we need from you

• Look smart – wear your uniform with pride

• Willingness to help and support colleagues and departments

• Ability to work as part of a team and unsupervised to complete tasks on time to a high standard

• To be able to take direction and show initiative

• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred

• Be physically fit and Able to safety lift and carry objects over 10kg

• Ability to read and write English
