Job summary

Summerset Holdings in Levin Village is seeking a Café Assistant/Kitchen Assistant to deliver warm, friendly service and support both café operations and light kitchen duties. You will craft high-quality coffee, prepare cabinet food and light meals, and help create a welcoming hub for residents, families and guests.

The role is casual, on an as-needed basis, offering opportunities to grow within Summerset and gain hospitality qualifications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare, present, and serve food and drinks to a high standard.
• Provide outstanding barista services.
• Assist with catering for village events and resident functions.
• Handle cash and reconcile daily takings.
• Follow Food Control Plan requirements and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist with stock handling and kitchen support.

Job Description:

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant/Kitchen Assistant for our Levin Village,who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Providing outstanding barista services
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings
• Following the requirements of the Food Control Plan to ensure that all elements are completed as documented
• Cleaning of all kitchen surfaces including washing dishes and removing rubbish from the kitchen
• Working with the chef to unload and put away stock
• Supporting the chef with food preparation

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual contract position on an as and when required basis.

Qualifications:

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• Previous hospitality or café experience
• Superb barista skills
• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
