Job summary

Summerset Levin Village is seeking a Café Assistant/Kitchen Assistant to join our team. You will deliver friendly service, assist with cafe operations, and support the chef with food preparation and events in a welcoming village cafe.

This casual, on-site role offers opportunities to grow within Summerset, exposure to hospitality qualifications, and uniform provided. Applications close 28/11/2026.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard.
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions.
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings.
• Following the requirements of the Food Control Plan to ensure that all elements are documented.
• Cleaning of all kitchen surfaces including washing dishes and removing rubbish.
• Working with the chef to unload and put away stock; supporting with food preparation.

Job Description

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant/Kitchen Assistant for our Levin Village,who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings
• Following the requirements of the Food Control Plan to ensure that all elements are completed as documented
• Cleaning of all kitchen surfaces including washing dishes and removing rubbish from the kitchen
• Working with the chef to unload and put away stock
• Supporting the chef with food preparation

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual contract position on an as and when required basis.
