Job summary

Bupa Fergusson Care Home in Trentham, Upper Hutt, is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations, preparing and presenting meals, and aiding a busy team. The role emphasizes hygiene, team collaboration, and resident-focused care in a warm, sociable environment.

Permanent part-time position with a rotating roster; prior experience helps but full training is provided to deliver high-quality meals for residents.

Hours & Roster Details:

• Employment Type: Permanent Part-time
• Hours: Average 29hours/week/175 hours/6 weeks roster period
• Shift Time: Mix of shifts: 6.30am to 2.00pm and 11.00am to 5.00pm.
• Roster Pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday)

Bupa Fergusson Care Home is located in Trentham, Upper Hutt. The home offers rest home, hospital, and dementia care in a welcoming and sociable environment.

As a Kitchen Assistant you will:

• Assist with food preparation
• Undertake General kitchen duties (dishwashing and cleaning)
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a busy kitchen team

What you’ll need to make it possible

• Must have 1 year experience in a similar role, but full training and development will be provided
• Have experience following established recipes and preparing food to a high standard.
• Be a proactive team player who can work independently and pitch in where needed
• Possess strong attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation
• Excellent time management & communication skills, following instruction accurately
• Empathetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about making a positive difference for residents
• Available to work rotating rostered shifts, including weekends
• Reliable transport and travel arrangements
