Job description

  • Compensation: NZD 130,000 - NZD 150,000 - yearly
Company Description

Our kaimahi (employees) are passionate people, committed to improving health and social outcomes for communities across Aotearoa, especially for those experiencing inequity. We are focused on building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve and brings a deep understanding of local needs, cultures and experiences. At Whakarongorau Aotearoa (Whakarongorau), our commitment to mana taurite begins with understanding ourselves - how we think, behave and show up each day as health professionals serving the people of Aotearoa.

Whakarongorau is a social enterprise and virtual health and social services organisation, connecting people with care when they need it. We provide consistent, clinically supported access to health and social support, particularly when in-person services are not available or when location, time of day, cost or cultural needs create barriers. Our role is to make care easier to access, more connected and responsive for people across Aotearoa.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to take a newly focused commercial role and help shape how Whakarongorau grows its impact across Aotearoa. As Key Account Development Manager, you will build trusted relationships with priority customers, identify new opportunities, and connect customer needs with the services, expertise and innovation Whakarongorau can bring.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will work closely with Executive leaders, operational teams and subject matter experts to identify, shape and progress opportunities that support commercial growth and improved customer outcomes. You will be close to the conversations shaping future health and social services, helping Whakarongorau respond in ways that are clinically sound, commercially sustainable and meaningful for communities.

Through structured account planning, stakeholder engagement, opportunity development and procurement activity, you’ll help position Whakarongorau as a trusted partner within the health and social sector, including Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora, ACC and the Ministry of Social Development. You will act as a connector between customers and internal teams, turning insights, opportunities and market intelligence into future services, partnerships and sustainable growth.

  • Develop and maintain account plans that support growth across priority customer organisations.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Identify, assess, and progress opportunities for service expansion, new offerings, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead and coordinate procurement activity, including proposals, tenders, and funding opportunities.
  • Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and support their progression from concept through to implementation.
  • Gather and share customer, market, and sector intelligence to inform commercial planning and decision-making.
  • Coordinate engagement and opportunity development activities across commercial, operational, clinical, and digital teams.
  • Support the successful positioning of Whakarongorau as a trusted and valued partner within the health and social sectors.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence how virtual health and social services grow across Aotearoa, working with a purpose-led organisation that combines commercial thinking with social impact. You’ll work collaboratively alongside experienced commercial, clinical, operational and digital teams, with the space to build relationships, shape opportunities and contribute to services that make a real difference.

Benefits include:

  • Supportive hybrid working environment, with regular work-from-home days
  • Birthday leave, additional leave and a half-day wellbeing leave each month
  • Discounts through Boost and Samsung
Qualifications

You are a relationship-led commercial professional who enjoys opening doors, understanding what matters to customers, and turning possibilities into practical opportunities. You are confident working across complex stakeholder environments and know how to bring people with you, even when priorities are competing or the path forward is still forming.

You may come from account development, business development, partnerships, commercial development or a related role. What matters most is that you can build trust, spot opportunities, progress ideas, and work across teams to turn insight into action.

You will be motivated by work that combines commercial growth with social impact, and by the chance to help shape innovative health and social services for communities across Aotearoa.
