Job summary

NZ Labour Hire is seeking an Inventory Controller in Tauranga to join our client’s team. You will maintain accurate inventory records, perform stock counts, and support efficient logistics operations.

Experience in warehousing, proficiency with WMS, and strong attention to detail are essential. The role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently or as part of a team, and ensure accuracy and quality across stock movements and audits.

Qualifications

• Experience as Inventory Controller or similar in warehousing/distribution.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and WMS.
• NZQA Level 3 qualification in Logistics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Managing and monitoring inventory levels across warehouse systems to ensure accuracy and optimisation.
• Conducting regular physical stock counts and reconciling findings with system records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Investigating stock variances and implementing corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
• Processing inventory transactions including receipts, picks, transfers and adjustments in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintaining detailed inventory records and generating reports for management review.
• Co-ordinating with warehouse, procurement and logistics teams to ensure smooth inventory operations.
• Identifying and implementing improvements to inventory control processes and systems.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards and health and safety regulations.
• Assisting with cycle counting and full inventory audits as required.

NZ Labour Hire is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join on of our clients in Tauranga. As Inventory Controller, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate inventory records, minimising discrepancies, and supporting the efficiency of our logistics operations. This position is integral to our supply chain success and directly impacts our ability to serve our clients effectively.

Key responsibilities

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as an Inventory Controller or in a similar inventory management role within a warehousing or distribution environment
• Strong proficiency with inventory management software and warehouse management systems (WMS)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Solid understanding of inventory control principles, stock valuation methods and audit procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant business applications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• NZQA Level 3 qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field (preferred)
• Experience with barcode systems and RFID technology (advantageous)
