Job summary

The Canterbury distribution team at Reliance Recruitment is seeking an Inventory Controller to ensure accurate stock management and smooth operations at our Christchurch distribution centre, working closely with the national procurement team.

You will handle hands-on inventory control, receipting goods, cycle counts, and use digital systems to log deliveries, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience with inventory control and warehousing processes.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail are essential.
• Good communication skills and ability to log data accurately.
• Ability to plan, organise and manage workloads under pressure.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Description

About the Role: As the Inventory Controller, you will be a key part of the Christchurch team ensuring accurate stock management and supporting the smooth running of our distribution centre while working closely with our national procurement team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• (50%) Hands on Inventory control (50%) administration.
• Accurately receipting and checking incoming goods.
• Stocking, rotating, loading, and unloading product.
• Monitoring and maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counts.
• Using digital systems to log and track daily deliveries.
• Investigating stock discrepancies and resolving out-of-stock issues.
• Managing purchase, returns, repairs, and warranty claims.
• Coordinating special orders and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

• Experience and knowledge of the building industry is desirable.
• Previous skills with inventory control, inwards goods, or warehousing.
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
• Confident using digital tools and internal systems.
• Strong numeracy and communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organise, and manage workloads under pressure.
• Able to work both independently and within a team.
