Job summary

Vulcan in East Tāmaki, Auckland, is seeking an experienced Internal Sales & Estimation professional to join our Plate team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will prepare quotes, process orders, and provide technical advice to customers.

You'll work closely with customers, the sales team and production to deliver accurate estimates, follow up on quotes to support conversions, and confirm lead times with production. A stable, long-term role with a supportive culture awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience in internal sales, estimation or customer service within metals or manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Clear written and verbal communication; strong numeracy.
• NZ resident or valid work visa; willing to pre-employment checks.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Internal Sales & Estimation professional to join our Plate team in East Tāmaki, Auckland, on a full-time, permanent basis. You'll work closely with customers, our sales team and the production floor to deliver accurate quotes and outstanding service.

What You\'ll Do

• Prepare accurate quotations and estimates from customer drawings, specifications and enquiries
• Process customer orders and manage day-to-day account queries
• Provide technical advice and product knowledge to customers
• Follow up on quotes to support sales conversion and build strong customer relationships
• Liaise with production and operations to confirm lead times and product availability

What You\'ll Bring

• Key hard skills, in order of importance:
• Experience in internal sales, estimating or customer service within steel, metals, manufacturing or a related trade industry
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Strong numeracy and accuracy preparing quotes and processing orders
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple customer requests at once
• Confident computer skills, comfortable using business or ERP systems
• Currently residing in NZ or holding a valid work visa
• Willing to complete a pre-employment medical and drug screen
