Job summary

Kiwibank is seeking an Internal Communications Manager in Auckland to lead strategic storytelling and support a major transformation programme. You will partner with senior leaders and teams across the bank to deliver engaging internal communications that inspire our people and reflect our purpose.

You'll shape strategic plans, write and edit compelling content, and coordinate across channels to ensure consistency with Ngā Kauwaka values.

Qualifications

• Excellent strategic advice and trusted communications counsel to senior leaders.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management across teams.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading with attention to detail.
• Experience delivering strategic communication plans over time.
• Comfort with multiple channels: email, intranet, video, social, virtual and in-person.
• Willingness to adapt and learn, including emerging AI tools.

Our Internal Communications Managers partner with our business units, forming close relationships with leaders and influencers, and engaging people all over Kiwibank through stories that bring our strategy and purpose to life. Right now, we’re also in an exciting stage of our significant bank-wide transformation programme, and in this role, you’ll work closely with the team making the magic happening.

What you’ll be doing:

• Providing strategic advice and support to leaders and stakeholders on all aspects of internal communication
• Creating and executing strategic communication plans that help build Kiwibank’s reputation and engagement with our people
• Creating purposeful content that shows how our business units are delivering on our strategy and Purpose, engaging and motivating our people
• Supporting the delivery of Kiwibank’s transformation through strategic storytelling
• Working with project teams to make sure our communications are clear, connected to Kiwibank’s strategy and grounded in Ngā Kauwaka, the values and behaviours that shape how we work together

• A great reputation for providing strong, thoughtful strategic advice and being a trusted and effective communications advisor to senior leaders
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills that mean you can work across the team and business with influence
• A thoughtful and collaborative approach, with the ability to listen well, understand different perspectives, and bring people with you
• Proven experience creating and executing strategic communications plans over time
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. You can spot a great story, have a keen eye for detail, and are creative in the way you deliver things
• Confidence and experience using a range of channels and mediums to best effect, including email, intranet, video, social, virtual and face to face
• The ability to manage several projects at the same time and identify what matters most
• Curiosity and confidence using emerging tools, including AI, to enhance productivity and improve the quality and impact of your communications.
