Job summary

BCD Group is a New Zealand-owned consultancy delivering planning, surveying and engineering services nationwide. We seek an Intermediate Planner in Tauranga or Hamilton to provide professional planning expertise across a range of projects as part of our Infrastructure and Environmental team.

You will interpret legislation to inform planning assessments, manage workloads, and contribute to client outcomes while aligning with our core values and collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of planning/resource management experience in NZ with consent processing knowledge.
• Tertiary qualification in planning, geography and/or resource management.
• Associate or Graduate NZPI membership.
• Ability to interpret legislation to inform planning assessments and processes.
• Organise workload and projects with attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to client outcomes and alignment with core values.
• NZ residency or valid NZ work permit with a full, clean driver’s license.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a self-motivated, confident, reliable, and well‑organised Intermediate Planner to join our team of property professionals in the Tauranga or Hamilton office. As part of our Infrastructure and Environmental team, you will provide professional and technical planning expertise across a range of projects andbe exposed to the full range of consultancy services it takes to bring a project to life. What we are looking for:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in planning/resource management within NZ with a sound understanding of consent processing and relevant legislation.
• A tertiary qualification in planning, geography and/or resource management.
• An Associate or Graduate NZPI membership.
• Ability to interpret legislation to inform planning assessments and processes.
• Ability to organise workload and projects effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
