Job summary

Align Limited in Auckland is seeking an Intermediate Planner to join our multi-disciplinary team delivering infrastructure and environmental projects across New Zealand. You will work with experienced planners on a diverse range of assignments, providing planning advice and preparing statutory documentation for public, private and commercial clients.

You will engage stakeholders, contribute to environmental assessments, and support project delivery while developing your career in a supportive

Qualifications

  • NZPI-accredited planning degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years in professional planning practice.
  • Experience with resource consent applications and assessments.
  • Good knowledge of New Zealand planning legislation and processes.
  • Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid New Zealand driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist with resource consent applications, notices of requirement and environmental assessments.
  • Support plan changes, policy and strategic planning projects.
  • Provide planning advice to public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare technical reports, submissions and planning assessments.
  • Engage with stakeholders and communities on projects.
  • Attend project meetings, workshops and site visits.
  • Coordinate specialist inputs as needed.
  • Support project delivery, scheduling and client reporting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for successful outcomes.

What You'll Do

As an Intermediate Planner, you will work alongside experienced planning professionals on a diverse range of infrastructure, development and environmental projects throughout New Zealand. You will provide planning advice, prepare statutory planning documentation, engage with stakeholders and contribute to delivering high-quality outcomes for our diverse range of public, private and commercial clients across Aotearoa.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Preparing and assisting with resource consent applications, notices of requirement and assessments of environmental effects.
  • Supporting plan change, policy and strategic planning projects.
  • Providing planning advice to public and private sector clients.
  • Preparing technical reports, submissions and planning assessments.
  • Undertaking stakeholder and community engagement activities.
  • Attending project meetings, workshops and site visits.
  • Coordinating specialist technical inputs where required.
  • Supporting project delivery, programme management and client reporting.
  • Working collaboratively with planners and multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve successful outcomes.
Skills, Experience And Qualities

We're looking for an emerging planning professional who is motivated, solutions-focused and keen to continue developing their career within a supportive consultancy environment. We are looking for those who have the following skills and experience:

  • A NZPI-accredited planning degree or a relevant tertiary qualification in planning, resource management, environmental science, geography or similar.
  • 4 years of relevant industry planning experience.
  • Experience preparing or contributing to resource consent applications and assessments.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand planning legislation and statutory planning processes.
  • Strong written communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound organisational and time management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
