Job summary

Awanui Group, New Zealand's largest pathology network, is seeking a Systems Engineer - Infrastructure to join our IT Shared Services team in Christchurch. You will support ICT services, maintain systems, resolve user issues, and contribute to upgrades and projects in a hands-on role.

Reporting to Infrastructure Team Leaders, the role covers OS, servers, networking, and related technology. You will participate in after-hours on-call, document solutions, and work with internal teams and external

Qualifications

Experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or similar ICT roles.
Hands-on with Active Directory, networking, Linux, Exchange Online, Remote Desktop Services, MECM, and Windows Server.
Experience monitoring systems, resolving incidents, documenting solutions, supporting upgrades, and participating in change management.
Clear communication skills and strong customer-service focus.
Relevant computing qualification; VMware, backup, firewall, and full New Zealand driver licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain operating systems, applications, computers, servers, phone systems, printers, and related technology, with clear documentation.
Provide day-to-day support, manage requests through the ticketing system, resolve incidents and problems, coordinate with third parties, and complete reviews where applicable.
Monitor performance, assist with upgrades, automate processes where appropriate, and recommend technologies that could improve business effectiveness.
Prepare Requests for Change, participate in CAB meetings, contribute expertise to ICT projects, and work within ICT strategy, policies, and standards.
Build constructive relationships, advise users, work effectively with external partners, and meet quality, privacy, security and health and safety requirements.
