Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is New Zealand's newest university and one of its most distinctive. Centred on students and grounded in knowledge that works, AUT is 5-star rated by QS, with more than 27,000 students and 4,000 staff based primarily across three Auckland campuses. It's a place of real opportunity, where the values of Pono, Tika and Aroha shape how talented, progressive people work together – and you'll feel that in the culture, in the collaboration and in the difference the work makes for students, communities and the world.

Our community is stronger because of the role Te Tiriti plays in how we operate, and because Māori and Pacific knowledge, leadership and contribution are central to who we are. We embrace diversity in all its forms and are proud to welcome people of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious and political beliefs, socio-economic situations and accessibility needs.

Te Mātāpuna Library and Learning Services is AUT's whare pukapuka (library) and knowledge source. Our name recognises the special connection AUT has to the underground waterways and rivers that flow through Tāmaki Makaurau. Our mātāpuna (campus libraries) and services are foundational for Knowledge That Works. Te Mātāpuna teams are knowledge connectors and amplifiers, navigators, partners and kaitiaki. We centre our work around principles of openness, inclusivity and equity. As active Tiriti partners, we embed AUT’s Tiriti framework throughout our services. Our teams’ partner with the AUT community to lift academic skills and provide access to knowledge. We create learning opportunities and resources to lift achievement, research visibility and impact and to support open research and Māori and indigenous data sovereignty.

We are seeking a fixed-term, full-time Information Literacy Librarian to provide high-quality professional services to students. The appointment is fixed-term to the end of March 2027 and aligns with a significant refresh of the Library’s website content and asynchronous learning resources. The position will be primarily based at AUT’s City Campus, with occasional work required at our South and North campuses. The role reports to the Team Leader, Information Literacy, within the Learning and Academic Engagement team. Please note that this role involves some evening teaching.

This role provides an opportunity to contribute to innovative, inclusive and values-driven services that enable student success and support AUT’s Te Aronui journey.

As a professional staff member at AUT, you’ll help our university thrive by improving services, supporting students and staff and driving practical improvements across our campuses. We’re looking for people with energy, curiosity and openness to new ideas who bring a collaborative, adaptable approach and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

You’ll also bring cultural humility and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi , Indigenous peoples and diverse communities. Experience supporting Indigenous, equity or inclusion-focused initiatives is highly valued.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of information literacy, digital and AI literacy capabilities programmes
