Job summary

Randstad is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Contracts Administrator to provide hands-on commercial support to the Commercial Manager on a temporary basis in Christchurch, New Zealand. You will hit the ground running on active construction projects and assist with core commercial tasks such as tendering, cost management, and monthly drawdowns.

The ideal candidate has QS or contracts administration experience in commercial/industrial construction and is comfortable with systems like

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Quantity Surveying or Contracts Administration in commercial/industrial construction.
• Familiarity with commercial construction processes, trade packages, and managing subcontractor agreements.
• Tech-savvy (experience with systems like Procore or CostX is a bonus, but strong general proficiency works).
• Good clear communication skills and a practical, problem‑solving mindset.
• Availability to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Tendering & Procurement: Help request, evaluate, and compare subcontractor quotes and draft basic subcontract agreements.
• Cost & Variation Management: Review and assess subcontractor variations and assist with monthly payment claims.
• Financial Tracking: Support the team with basic project cost tracking, monthly drawdowns, and job close-outs.
• Commercial Support: Assist the Commercial Manager and Project Managers with general day-to-day contract and financial administration.
