Job summary

Horizon Energy Group (HEG) – Invercargill, South Island, is seeking an HVAC/Refrigeration technician to deliver planned maintenance, reactive work, fault diagnostics and installations across commercial, industrial and infrastructure sites.

You will work independently and with a team to complete jobs safely, document service reports and condition assessments, and maintain strong customer relationships while following NZ Standards.

Qualifications

• HVAC/Refrigeration skills and knowledge across installation, maintenance and fault finding.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time and respond to urgent work when required.

About the role:

• Deliver HVAC & refrigeration services across planned maintenance, reactive work, fault diagnostics, and installations
• Work independently and in a team to complete jobs safely, efficiently, and to NZ Standards
• Manage your workload effectively, coordinating with supervisors, service coordinators, and suppliers
• Maintain accurate documentation including service reports, timesheets, and condition assessments
• Champion health & safety through hazard reporting, safe work practices, and active participation in toolbox talks
• Build strong customer relationships by delivering high‑quality service and communicating clearly on job progress
• Contribute to a positive team culture aligned with Aquaheat's guiding principles

About you:

• Qualified in HVAC/Refrigeration
• At least 3 years' post‑trade experience
  
• Current NZ Class 1 driver licence (or ability to obtain one)
  
• Experienced with air‑conditioning, ventilation & refrigeration systems across installation, maintenance, and fault finding
• Strong technical problem‑solver who takes pride in delivering high‑quality workmanship
• Organised and proactive with the ability to manage your own time and respond to urgent work when needed
• Customer‑focused communicator who can handle enquiries professionally and maintain positive relationships
• Safety‑conscious with a solid understanding of compliance, PPE, and safe work practices
• Team‑oriented, supportive, and committed to contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment
• Motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic and pride in representing the business well
