Job summary

Horizon Energy Group in Auckland, North Island, is seeking a mid-level mechanical draughting engineer to support project teams nationwide. You will prepare CAD drawings, 3D models, and installation details using Inventor, Fusion 360, and AutoCAD, bridging sales, manufacturing and on-site delivery.

The role requires 3–5 years in mechanical design, strong attention to detail, and knowledge of sheet metal processes and engineering principles. VBA or VB.NET experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in the manufacturing and construction industry.
• Proficient in Inventor, Fusion 360 and AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• NZQA recognition of overseas qualifications by NZQA.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design and draughting experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and sheet metal processes.
• Programming experience with VBA or VB.NET is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical project engineering and draughting support across sales, manufacturing, and site delivery teams.
• Prepare accurate CAD drawings, 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and installation details using Inventor, Fusion 360, and AutoCAD.
• Support project coordination to ensure solutions meet client requirements, budgets, and timelines.
• Contribute to technical discussions and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist with project reporting, hazard identification, and compliance with codes and standards.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering Manager, Project Manager, National Manager, and production teams.
• Help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard nationwide.

Colt Products & Systems is a division of Aquaheat New Zealand Limited and manufactures louvres, ventilators and othersmoke control/natural ventilation product.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a great team based in Auckland .Reporting to the Engineering/Project Manager, the purpose of this role is to support the Project Teams including manufacturing facility by providing drafting, technical, project Engineering services required to service our clients in aprofessional and timely manner.

About the role:

• Assist with project reporting, hazard identification, and compliance with relevant codes and standards

• Help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard nationwide

About you:

• Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing and construction Industry
• CAD Proficiency: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as Inventor, Fusion 360 and AutoCAD or other CAD software, is essential.
• NZQA Recognition: If you have overseas qualifications, they need to be assessed and recognized by the New
• Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)
• Mid-Level: 3-5 years of experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in mechanical design and draughting.
• Mid -Level: Over 5 years of experience, including project management and roles in mechanical draughting.
• Knowledge of Engineering Principles: Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and sheet metalmanufacturing processes.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and diligence in creating technical drawings and specifications.
• Programming experience, particularly with VBA or VB.NET, would be an advantage but is not essential
