Job summary

Summerset Richmond village is seeking a hardworking Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to keep resident rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas clean and welcoming. You’ll handle laundry with care and help maintain a homely, safe environment for residents and whānau.

No experience? full training provided. You should be physically fit, take pride in detail, and enjoy working with older adults. This casual, as-needed role offers supportive teamwork and flexible shifts to suit lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, preferably in healthcare or hospitality settings.
• Pride in work, attention to small details, and a caring approach.
• Able to be physically active and able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities.
• Launder, fold and return residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents' personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their needs.

Job Description

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Richmond village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home. As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your Day-to-day Activities Will Include

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual position with shifts offered on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary - full training provided)
