Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Whangārei is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to keep our village clean, homelike and dignified for residents. This full-time role involves cleaning rooms, laundry tasks, and providing a caring presence for residents and their whānau.

The position offers a rotating schedule from 9:30am to 6:00pm, five days on, two days off, including weekends, with full training provided and a supportive team culture that values care and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Pride in work and attention to small details.
• Physically fit and comfortable standing for long periods.
• Genuine interest in aged care with full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry and kitchen facilities.
• Launder, fold and return residents' clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents' personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their unique needs.

Job Description

A Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset is more than just a cleaner. You’re a quiet hero behind the scenes - keeping our village fresh, homely, and dignified for the people who live here. We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Whangarei village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home. As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members. This is a permanent full-time role, working a rotating roster of: Five days on, two days off, 9.30am to 6.00pm (Including weekend cover).

Your Day-to-day Activities Will Include

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary - full training provided)
