Job summary

Summerset is seeking a casual Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset at Karaka village to keep our environment clean, homely and dignified for residents. You’ll be a quiet hero behind the scenes, ensuring comfort and safety for residents, their whānau, and team members, with training provided where needed.

The role involves cleaning across resident rooms, communal areas, laundry and kitchen facilities, plus laundry duties and adherence to infection control.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, preferably in healthcare or hospitality.
• Prides themselves on detail and care.
• Physically capable and able to work on their feet.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry and kitchen facilities.
• Launder, fold and return residents' clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents' laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health & safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their unique needs.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring casualHousekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Summerset at Karakavillage team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role offering hours on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)
