Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Hamilton, New Zealand, invites applications for a casual Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Rototuna Village. You will help keep residents' environments clean, safe, and homely, supporting laundry duties and daily care tasks with sensitivity and respect.

You'll join a warm team, receive full training, and work on an as-needed basis. Aged care interest and the ability to work standing for long periods are valued, with weekend penalty rates and career development

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Pride in your work and care about the small details.
• Are physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
• Have a genuine interest in aged care; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care
• Labeling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

A Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset is more than just a cleaner.

You're a quiet hero behind the scenes - keeping our village fresh, homely, and dignified for the people who live here.
We're looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Rototuna village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.
As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your Day-to-day Activities Will Include

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on as and when needed basis.

Qualifications

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary - full training provided)
