Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Napier is seeking a casual Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join the Bay village team. You will help keep the village clean, homely, and dignified for residents and their whānau.

The role is focused on creating a fresh, uplifting environment, with training provided and a supportive team culture. Hours are on an as-needed basis, with a casual, friendly work setting in aged care.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Physically fit and able to work on your feet.
• Willingness to learn; full training provided for aged care.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry and kitchen facilities.
• Launder, fold and return residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents’ personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their needs.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring casual Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Summerset in the Bay village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role offering hours on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)
