Job summary

Summerset Palms village in Napier is hiring a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant on a full-time basis. You will help create a clean, welcoming home for residents, their whānau and staff by maintaining high standards of cleaning and laundry care.

No experience is required – full training is provided. The role operates on a 4 days on, 2 days off roster from 7am to 3pm, within a warm aged-care environment that values compassion and teamwork at Summerset Palms.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping is beneficial but not required.
• Care about small details and maintaining cleanliness to high standards.
• Physically fit and able to work on your feet.
• Genuine interest in aged care with full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard.
• Launder, fold and return residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents' laundry items.
• Support infection control and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and their whānau.

Job Description

A Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset is more than just a cleaner.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Summerset Palmsvillage team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a full time role working on a 4 days on, 2 days off roster between 7am - 3pm.

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)
