Edit Hotels & Resorts in Hanmer Springs is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to look after day-to-day maintenance and the upkeep of the property. The role is full-time with day shifts 8am–4:30pm, based in Hanmer Springs, South Island, NZ.

You will handle routine maintenance, communicate with other departments, and coordinate external contractors. A hands-on, reliable candidate with a Can-do approach will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance/handyman experience, preferably in a hotel or nursing home environment
• Weekend availability if required
• Mechanically sound and skilled in the use of ride-on mowing equipment
• Sound knowledge of health & safety in relation to your role
• Self-motivation and discipline, someone with passion for getting the job done to a high quality
• The ability to work without supervision
• Well groomed, personable and friendly
• Physically fit due to the nature of the role
• Reliable and honest personality

Responsibilities

• Handle routine maintenance issues of the hotel
• Maintain the building, plant, equipment, fixtures, and fittings
• Maintaining the hotel pool
• Gardening and grounds cleaning
• Communicate with hotel departments regarding maintenance needs and action accordingly
• Coordinate external contractors when required
• Be responsible for reporting hazards, incidents, and ensuring your actions do not put others at risk.
• Assist with other duties as directed by management
• Undertake repairs when necessary, including after hours due to the 24/7 nature of the hotel industry.
