Job summary

Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas invites applications for a full-time Duty Manager to lead guest services and hotel operations in Te Anau, Fiordland. The role offers a minimum of 30 hours per week with an hourly rate of NZD 30–32, depending on experience.

You will oversee front desk, supervise staff, handle guest inquiries and ensure smooth day-to-day hotel operations. This hands-on leadership position requires exceptional guest service and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a Duty Manager, Supervisor or senior hotel reception role
• Strong people-management and leadership skills
• Excellent conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities
• Solid knowledge of hotel reception and front office operations

Responsibilities

• Overseeing front desk and reception operations during your shift
• Supervising and coordinating hotel staff to maintain high standards
• Handling guest inquiries, requests and complaints professionally
• Managing and resolving conflicts effectively
• Taking responsibility for hotel operations and guest experience during your shift
• Completing relevant administration, reporting and end-of-shift procedures
• Assisting with all departments across the hotel as required
