Landpower | CLAAS Harvest Centre in Dunedin is seeking an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. You will work with experienced technicians in the workshop and in the field while completing a structured apprenticeship program leading to qualifications.

The role requires practical agricultural knowledge, diesel servicing experience, and a willingness to learn. A full, clean Class 1 licence is essential, with opportunities to advance as you gain skills and certifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a diesel vehicle servicing and repair environment
  • Willing to learn through formal training
  • Full, clean Class 1 driver licence
  • On‑farm machinery knowledge
  • Reliable and punctual

Responsibilities

  • Complete a structured apprenticeship program and achieve required qualifications
  • Assemble, service and repair agricultural machinery
  • Diagnose faults in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and precision farming systems
  • Record work and access technical information using online systems
  • Work in workshop and field with experienced technicians
  • Communicate with customers to keep machinery operating, especially in peak periods
  • Follow health and safety procedures and keep a tidy work area

We are now seeking expressions of interest for our 2026 courses; The next availableintakes will be September 21st October 26th 2026. These courses are subject to age andNCEA qualification criteria.

Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is seeking applications for our pre-employment programs.


Re-train with industry created programs that will kick start your career in sea goingpositions on NZ owned deep sea factory ships.

Successful students are facilitated into paid employment in the seafood industry; thishowever is dependent on usual employment practices, Company and vesselavailability.

Starting wages ranging from 60 – 70k per year depending on trip lengths.

The Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is New Zealand's leading provider of pre-employment training for the maritime industry.

Job Description

Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship
We are looking for an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join our team in Dunedin. You will work alongside experienced Agricultural Technicians in the workshop and out in the field while completing a structured apprenticeship programme.

  • Hands-on work with agricultural machinery
  • Learn alongside experienced technicians
  • Build practical skills and work towards a qualification
  • $24-$25 per hour

What’s the job?

  • Completing a structured apprenticeship programme and working towards the required qualifications
  • Assembling, servicing and repairing agricultural machinery, including mowers, rakes, seeders, sprayers and combine harvesters
  • Learning to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and precision farming system faults
  • Using online systems to record work, access technical information and assist with fault finding
  • Working in both workshop and field environments alongside experienced technicians
  • Communicating with customers and helping to keep their machinery operating, particularly during busy periods
  • Following health and safety procedures and maintaining an organised work area

The work can be physically demanding and may involve working outdoors, travelling to customer properties and working additional hours during peak farming seasons.

About you!

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has practical agricultural knowledge and understands how machinery is used on-farm
  • Has at least one year of experience in a diesel vehicle servicing and repair environment
  • Has mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how machinery works
  • Is willing to learn through formal training and hands-on experience
  • Can follow instructions, ask questions and take responsibility for completing tasks
  • Is punctual, reliable and honest
  • Can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Is comfortable using computers and technology
  • Holds a full, clean Class 1 driver licence
