Job summary

Southern Districts Towing in Takanini, North Island, seeks an experienced Heavy Haulage Operator. You will salvage and transport large vehicles, load and unload equipment, and operate various trucks and trailers.

The role requires a Class 5 driver’s license with at least 2 years of proven heavy haulage or salvage experience, roadranger and Hiab exposure, and the ability to work on-call, weekends and nights. Full training is provided, and a competitive remuneration package is offered.

Qualifications

• Hold a class 5 driver's license with 2 years of provable heavy haulage or salvage experience.
• Roadranger and Hiab experience preferred.
• Understand heavy haulage regulations and safety.
• Be physically fit and able to pass a criminal history check.

Southern Districts Towing – Takanini, North Island

For over 40 years, Southern Districts Towing's expert Recovery Team has been trusted for roadside assistance. We offer a supportive, friendly working environment and prioritize team upskilling through ongoing training and support.

No vehicle is to big or small for our team based in Takanini, South Auckland. We operate a large fleet of fit-for-purpose vehicles, with specialist logistic capabilities to recover and salvage all vehicles, from motorcycles to 60-ton truck & trailer’s, buses and plant machinery. Our services include heavy haulage, breakdown towing, roadside assistance, salvage and winching, and secure storage. We are a preferred service provider for the insurance industry and partner with Counties Manukau Police NZ, whom a large portion of our work derives from.

We're currently seeking an experienced Heavy Haulage Operator with strong mechanical aptitude. We would also welcome applications from qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics who are looking for a change and interested in moving into a heavy haulage role. Full training will be provided to the successful applicant.

The applicant must be available to work an on-call roster, including weekends and nights, with a minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed.

The successful candidate must pass a criminal history check and have a clean driving record.
