Job summary

Keith Andrews in Timaru is seeking a workshop mechanic to join our team. You will maintain, service and repair vehicles, machinery and plant to ensure safety and compliance.

The role is permanent full-time with guaranteed 30 hours per week and requires strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work alone or in a team. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of relevant experience and preferably a trade qualification as a Heavy Automotive Mechanic, with experience on heavy and light vehicles,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Trade qualification as heavy automotive mechanic preferred.
• Experience servicing/heavy vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to complete basic paperwork when needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine repair methods to return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and servicing schedules per manufacturer guidelines.

We are looking for workshop mechanics to join our team!

You will be required to work in Timaru

This is a permenent full-time role with guaranteed 30 hours per week.

This role is to maintain, service and repair vehicles, machinery and plant to ensure they are safe, reliable and compliant with operational and regulatory requirements.

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for completing mechanical servicing, diagnostics and repairs efficiently while maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider operations team to ensure equipment is available for fit for purpose.

Your day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine approriate repair methods to ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and schedules servicing in accordance with manufacturer guideline and maitenance schedules.

You need to demonstrate:

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Ideally trade qualified as a Heavy Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Can work unsupervised or part of a team
• Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening
• Able to complete basic paperwork when needed
• Understands and practices the principles of zero harm
• Calm, professional temperament and a good work ethic
