Keith Andrews Trucks in Timaru is seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair and service a range of heavy diesel vehicles in our well-equipped Timaru workshop.

Qualifications

• Qualified Heavy Diesel / Automotive Technician with trades qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel engines or heavy vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Sound mechanical knowledge and repair experience.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety and workshop best practices.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults across diesel engines and vehicle systems
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
• Utilise manufacturer diagnostic software and equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
• Complete job documentation and maintain accurate service records
• Communicate with Service Advisors and customers regarding repairs
• Maintain a safe, clean and efficient workshop environment

Job description

Keith Andrews Trucks is one of New Zealand’s leading commercial vehicle dealerships, proudly representing Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso. With dealerships across the country and a strong reputation for quality and service, we are looking for a skilled Heavy Diesel Technician to join our Timaru team.

If you enjoy diagnosing complex problems, working with industry-leading truck brands, and being part of a supportive workshop team, this is a great opportunity to grow your career.

We're offering a guaranteed 45 hours per week at $40-$48 per hour depending on your experience, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus and up to $5,000 to help with relocation costs. On top of that you'll get a tax-free tool allowance of $1.50 per hour, a tax-free $25 meal allowance on days over 10 hours worked, and $50 per day when you're on call. The overtime rate of time and a half will also kick in after 9 hours worked a day.

About The Role

As a Heavy Diesel Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our customers’ trucks and commercial vehicles running safely and efficiently. Working in our well-equipped Timaru workshop, you’ll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and complete servicing across a range of heavy diesel vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
