Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand is seeking a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or experienced Mechanic for a busy maintenance operation supporting heavy equipment in the logging and contracting sector. Central Dunedin, with a may-suit Balclutha option.

You will service, maintain and repair a diverse range of heavy diesel equipment in a hands-on, workshop-based environment with a varied workload, where strong mechanical and diagnostic skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivation and strong time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Complete workshop repairs and breakdown maintenance as required.
• Conduct inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
• Maintain accurate service records and job documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance and operations teams.
