Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora in Dunedin is seeking a dedicated Security Officer. This role offers variety beyond a typical security position, with duties including patrols, diffusing tense situations, and safeguarding staff and patients in a hospital environment.

About the role

Hospital environment offering great variety in your workday!

A role with loads of variety - this is not your average security role.

Reporting to the Security Service Manager, no two shifts in this role will be the same - you'll need to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and show compassion and empathy in times of distress. Previous security experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate, and training leading to nationally recognised security qualifications will be provided.

Our primary role is 'Healthcare' - looking after our patients.

Secondary to that is 'Security' - keeping everyone safe.

As part of our busy security team, you will be involved in a number of different duties such as:

• Routine patrols
• Diffusing tense situations before they escalate
• Ensuring the overall security of our people and buildings

Rostered hours are from 3pm to 11.35pm on 4x days on, 2x days off roster pattern.

About you

You will be a peacemaker, a confident communicator and display kindness and helpfulness while remaining firm and alert. You will have experience working with people from all walks of life, be non-judgemental and have a good level of physical fitness.
