Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hamilton seeks a technically skilled rostering administrator to optimise staff scheduling and rostering system use across the Waikato region.

You will configure tools, train users, produce reports, and support governance with careful data quality and risk management in a busy hospital environment. This is a permanent full-time role with clear career development opportunities and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • A degree in administration/management/health sciences, or more than five years experience in administration.
  • Methodical and logical approach to data analysis and problem solving, with strong numerical literacy and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level competency using Excel and other Microsoft products.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Experience learning new computer systems and applications.
  • Self-starter who provides quality service as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of employment contracts and how they relate to pay.
  • New Zealand Driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and direct services and operational managers on the efficient and effective use of staff scheduling systems.
  • Configure systems and user support tools to meet service requirements.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of staffing matters, including rostering requirements, Collective Agreement conditions, and applicable legislation and policies.
  • Build user capability through the development and delivery of training, support materials, and ongoing user assistance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues using through logical analysis.
  • Provide accurate reports and meaningful data analysis to support clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Conduct quality assurance and audit activities to ensure data accuracy, process compliance, and the effective identification, management, and escalation of risks.
