As a Health Care Assistant, you will bepart of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is towork within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-onepatient observation and other tasks as directed.This position is permanent0.9FTE, rostered and rotating Monday to Sunday. Our shift times are MorningShift 0700-1530H, Afternoon Shift 1445-2315H and Night Shift 2245-0715H. Te Whatu Ora (Nelson Marlborough) isthe main health provider for the Te Tau Ihu, the top of the south. Nearly 3,000strong, we are Nelson's and Marlborough's largest employer, supporting thehealth and wellbeing of over 150,000 citizens across the region.Our main locations are Nelson andWairau Hospitals, and the Richmond and Marlborough Health Hubs, but we arespread across the region and service all parts of the community. The redevelopmentwill increase our bed capacity to 29 and introduce modern features designed toenhance patient care and staff wellbeing. Isolation bays with negative pressureand anterooms opened on 4 November, marking the first milestone in thistransformation. Additional improvements include dedicated mental health rooms,a welcoming whānau room, and expanded staff areas. Completion of the fulldevelopment is expected by March 2026.
We are looking for people with a matureoutlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people and who haveexcellent communication skills. You will need the ability to work in aflexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability, and useappropriate initiative.Experience within the health sector is preferredbut is not essential as full training will be provided.
