Job summary

Qjumpers seeks an experienced Head Technician in Hawke's Bay to lead technical services, workshops, equipment and specialist resources across Hawke's Bay and Tairāwhiti. The role ensures safe, innovative, industry-relevant learning environments while providing leadership across workshop operations, health and safety compliance, resource planning and budget oversight.

Based at IDEAschool Hawke's Bay Campus, reporting to the Head of School, you will supervise the technician team, manage budgets

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical workshop environments and teams.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and wellbeing practices.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and priorities.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical services, workshops and resources.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the technician team.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and workshop procedures.
• Manage budgets, maintenance programmes and resource planning.
• Support staff and students with technical advice and services.
• Coordinate equipment procurement, maintenance and stock control.
• Develop and maintain workshop induction and training programmes.
• Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement.
• Support marketing, community engagement and external stakeholders.
• Maintain positive relationships with IDEAschool, EIT and partners.
