Evergreen Early Learning Centre is seeking an experienced Head Teacher for our Under-2s room to lead a dedicated team and deliver high-quality care and education for tamariki.

You will oversee learning experiences in line with Te Whāriki, manage routines, and build strong relationships with tamariki, whānau and colleagues in a warm, farm-like setting.

Qualifications

• ECE qualification recognised in NZ.
• Current Teaching Council registration and practising certificate.
• Experience teaching infants and toddlers; leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Te Whāriki and NZ ECE regulations.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.

Head Teacher – Under 2s (Fixed-Term, Parental Leave Cover)

Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 05/10/2026, End Date: 05/10/2027 (Parental leave)

We're looking for an experienced, passionate head teacher to lead our under-2s room on a fixed-term basis, covering a period of parental leave. You'll lead a small, dedicated teaching team and make sure our youngest tamariki receive warm, responsive, high-quality care and education, while building strong relationships with children, whānau and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor the under 2s teaching team.
• Plan, carry out and evaluate learning experiences for infants and toddlers in line with Te Whāriki.
• Oversee care routines, primary caregiving and smooth transitions for children and whānau.
• Keep the environment safe, nurturing and inclusive, and meet all regulatory requirements.
• Keep up regular, open communication with families and the wider centre team.
• Uphold professional teaching standards and our centre philosophy.

About you

• ECE qualification recognised in New Zealand.
• Current Teaching Council registration and practising certificate.
• Proven experience teaching infants and toddlers, leadership experience preferred.
