Job summary

MAS in Auckland is seeking an experienced Head of Risk & Compliance to lead MAS's enterprise risk and compliance framework. You will provide trusted advice to the Board and senior leaders, oversee risk governance and regulatory engagement, and develop a high-performing risk team in a highly visible role that shapes risk culture across the organisation. This permanent role is based in our Auckland Office.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in risk, compliance or governance within financial services or regulated environments.
• Proven ability to design and implement enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of risk governance, regulatory requirements and assurance practices.
• Experience engaging with boards, risk committees and senior executives.
• Ability to balance commercial outcomes with prudent risk management.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Risk & Compliance to join our team and play a critical role in protecting and creating value across our organisation. This is a permanent position and will be based in our Auckland Office.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Risk & Legal Officer, you'll lead the ongoing development and maturity of MAS's enterprise risk and compliance framework. You'll provide trusted advice and independent oversight to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, Executive Team and business leaders, helping ensure effective governance, risk management and regulatory compliance while supporting MAS's strategic objectives.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll influence decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation and help shape a strong risk culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and continuously improving MAS's enterprise risk management framework.
• Providing strategic risk advice to the Board, Executive Team and senior leaders.
• Overseeing risk governance, reporting and risk appetite frameworks.
• Leading compliance oversight and supporting regulatory engagement.
• Monitoring insurance, financial, operational, cyber, privacy and third-party risks.
• Supporting procurement governance and operational resilience initiatives.
• Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing risk team.
• Driving a positive risk culture and strong organisational capability.

About You

You’ll bring:

• 10-15 years' relevant experience, including significant leadership experience in risk, compliance, governance or financial services environments.
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of risk governance, regulatory compliance and assurance practices.
• Experience engaging with Boards, Audit & Risk Committees and senior executives.
• The ability to balance commercial outcomes with effective risk management.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience within insurance, financial services or other highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
