Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a senior Operational Risk professional to help shape and strengthen its risk framework. You will report to the Head of Enterprise Risk and contribute to designing and implementing ASB’s risk standards across Line 1, Line 2 and CBA.

You will provide evidence-based advice, challenge assumptions, and work with risk teams to enhance reporting, governance and capability across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • At least five years’ experience within financial services, risk management or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, policies and core risk management activities.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and critical-thinking capability.
  • The ability to assess complex information and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Experience providing credible advice, review and constructive challenge to stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills across a range of seniority levels.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex risk information for different audiences.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timeframes.
  • Sound judgement, curiosity and confidence when challenging established thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance ASB’s Operational Risk Policy framework, standards and supporting documentation
  • Deliver framework initiatives and workstreams that strengthen operational risk processes
  • Produce timely risk reporting that identifies material matters, emerging themes and opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with Line 1 and Line 2 teams to support effective operational risk management
  • Work with monitoring, oversight and specialist risk teams to promote consistent framework application
  • Develop and deliver training, guidance and coaching to strengthen risk capability
  • Facilitate effective presentations, meetings and workshops
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the ongoing development of operational risk capability across ASB

Job description

This is an influential opportunity to help shape and strengthen ASB’s Operational Risk Management Framework.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Risk, you will contribute to the design, implementation and ongoing development of ASB’s operational risk framework, policies and supporting standards. You will work closely with stakeholders across Line 1, Line 2 and CBA to support the consistent interpretation and application of operational risk requirements across ASB.

You will provide constructive, evidence-based Line 2 advice, review and challenge across a broad range of operational risk matters. Through high-quality reporting, practical guidance and strategic framework initiatives, you will help improve risk maturity and strengthen ASB’s risk culture.

In this role, you will:
