Job summary

Everbridge in Auckland seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a hands-on engineering team while taking on people leadership responsibilities. You will help deliver high-quality software and grow team capability, with a focus on an agentic AI platform for our SaaS solution.

The role values experience across AWS Bedrock, React, Node.js, Java, and Python, with openness to other technologies. You will balance leadership with technical contribution and ensure reliable delivery.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of software engineering experience including leading technical direction and delivering production systems.
Experience coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance conversations with engineers (people management preferred).
Strong technical credibility with ability to contribute code, review designs, and guide implementation details.
Experience balancing people leadership, technical decisions, and delivery in a modern software environment.
Interest in solving complex problems that keep people safe.
Collaborative leadership style focused on building team capability, ownership and accountability.
Experience with large code-base products or enterprise-grade software; appreciation for quality and maintainability.
Experience with cloud platforms; AWS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and support a team of engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and day-to-day guidance while fostering a strong engineering culture.
Contribute to design, development, and delivery of high-quality applications and APIs; remaining hands-on with architecture and coding where needed.
Drive technical discussions and provide leadership on architecture, scalability, quality, and engineering best practices.
Support delivery execution by removing blockers, coordinating with cross-functional partners, and ensuring the team can deliver reliably and sustainably.
