Job summary

Future Secure AI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (AI) to set the technical direction of our products and platform in Auckland. You will lead architectural decisions across squads and collaborate with engineering and customer delivery teams to drive production-ready AI solutions.

The role requires a strong background in AI software, hands-on coding (Node.js/TypeScript), and the ability to align technical choices with business goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience, with deep hands-on AI work.
• Strong coding fundamentals; we primarily use Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with AI frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Security and data governance as first-class design constraints, not afterthoughts.
• Track record of shaping and defending architectural decisions in complex, production environments.
• Communication skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around hard trade-offs.
• Sharp problem-solving instincts and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Shaping architectural decisions for AI Co-Worker systems deployed across enterprise customers.
• Designing human-in-the-loop systems to keep humans in control of AI Co-Workers in critical environments.
• Setting technical standards and patterns for other engineers to build on.
• Bringing novel approaches to combining deterministic and non-deterministic systems in production AI products.
• Ensuring the platform remains model-agnostic, integrating LLMs and AI frameworks from multiple vendors.
• Working closely with customers to understand needs and ensure solutions exceed expectations.
