Southern Paprika Limited, based in Warkworth, is seeking a Grounds & Maintenance Assistant for its onsite team. The role supports the maintenance manager and technicians across grounds, plant, and equipment within a busy glasshouse operation.

Qualifications

• Clear and positive communication is essential.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high‑paced production setting.
• Able to work unsupervised in a glasshouse environment.
• Willingness to handle maintenance tasks in various weather conditions.
• Previous maintenance experience in manufacturing or production is advantageous.
• May be required to cover after-hours on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with grounds maintenance.
• Support all maintenance of plant, equipment and buildings.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on glasshouse and packhouse gear.
• Assist with workshop upkeep and stock of parts/equipment.
• Help with breakdowns as needed.

WHO WE ARE

Located in Warkworth, just north of Auckland, Southern Paprika Limited (today known as SPL) is New Zealand’s largest single-site glasshouse operation and one of the country’s leading producers of hothouse vegetables. It operates 26 hectares of modern glasshouses on an 86- hectare site, growing capsicums and tomatoes, alongside a smaller volume of snacking cucumbers. We are seeking a motivated team player and efficient communicator to join our Maintenance team at SPL as our new Grounds & Maintenance Assistant. Reporting to our Maintenance Manager in their team of 9, you will help with grounds maintenance and provide hands‑on support to our technicians with a range of maintenance tasks on site.

THE ROLE

• Full time permanent role
• 40 Hours per week , normally 7:30am – 4:00pm
• Rostered days of Monday - Friday
• Located in Warkworth
• Great friendly environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with grounds maintenance
• You will assist & support with all types of maintenance of plant, equipment and buildings
• Carrying out preventative maintenance activities on glasshouse and packhouse equipment
• Assisting with upkeep of our workshop, maintaining stocks of parts and equipment
• Assist with breakdowns

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• A positive and good communicator
• Can work efficiently within our busy production environment
• Able to work unsupervised
• Able to cope with some work in a humid glasshouse and work in all weather conditions
• Previous maintenance experience in manufacturing or production type environment would be beneficial
• May be required for back‑up cover in the after hours on‑call duty roster, requiring flexibility with hours
