Job summary

Punchbowl PackCo in Patumahoe, Auckland, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our rural engineering team. The role covers maintenance, fabrication, installation, and continuous improvement within our kiwifruit packhouse operation, working across year-round automation systems.

During peak season (Feb–Apr) the site runs 24/7; outside these months hours are Monday to Friday. You will contribute to safe, efficient operations and support projects across our packhouse and equipment.

Qualifications

• TIG and MIG welding capability.
• Strong mechanical and maintenance engineering experience.
• Experience troubleshooting machinery and equipment.
• Experience with pneumatics.
• Relevant trade qualification such as Fitter Welder, Fitter Turner or similar.
• Good practical problem-solving ability and safety focus.

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team in rural Patumahoe, Auckland.

This is a practical engineering role working across maintenance, fabrication, machinery installation, breakdown response and continuous improvement within our kiwifruit packhouse operation.

You will be part of a small, experienced engineering team supporting our packhouse and automation systems year-round.

About the role

Working as part of the Engineering team, the role includes:

• Planned and reactive maintenance on packhouse machinery and equipment
• Breakdown response and troubleshooting
• Fabrication and welding work
• Installation, relocation and refurbishment of machinery
• Supporting machinery upgrades and engineering projects
• Working with Compac and MAF RODA equipment
• Maintaining safe, tidy and food-grade appropriate work practices

During the peak of our packing season (Feb-April), our operation runs 24/7, so flexibility and a willingness to help when needed is important. Outside of the packing season, standard hours are generally Monday to Friday.

About you

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and is happy to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. You’ll have:

• TIG and MIG welding capability
• Strong mechanical and maintenance engineering experience
• Experience troubleshooting machinery and equipment
• Experience with pneumatics
• A relevant trade qualification such as Fitter Welder, Fitter Turner or similar
• Good practical problem-solving ability
• A strong focus on safety and quality workmanship

Experience in manufacturing, food production, packhouse or industrial environments would be an advantage.
