Job summary

Whakatāne District Council is seeking a Geospatial Assistant to help manage addressing, parcel, and geospatial data. You will collect, maintain, and verify data while creating maps, reports, and tables for timely decision-making.

The role supports GIS tools such as ArcGIS and Geocortex, ensures data integrity, and collaborates with staff to improve systems and processes. Flexible working and extra leave are among the benefits.

Qualifications

Detail-oriented and capable of producing accurate information.
Experience in GIS, ICT, data management, or a related field.
Knowledge of GIS theory, spatial processing, and cartographic concepts is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Maintain street and parcel numbering records and related Council data.
Update and verify geospatial datasets to ensure data integrity.
Create GIS maps, cartographic products, reports and tables for decision-making.
Support staff to use GIS software and corporate datasets with confidence.
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous improvement of geospatial systems and workflows.
Support emergency management activities as required.
