We’re looking for an enthusiastic, customer‑focused team member to join our Garden Centre. The ideal person for this role will need to have the ability to provide excellent garden and plant care advice. This is a permanent full‑time role, working Tuesday to Saturday.

What You’ll Bring:

• Previous experience in plant and garden industry, may be an advantage
• A passion for customer service and sales
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail
• Basic computer literacy and confidence learning new systems
• High physical capability: this role involves regular lifting, shifting bulky product, moving trolleys, and working outdoors
• Confidence working at height, including safe ladder use for merchandising, stock rotation, and overhead product handling
• A proactive, Health & Safety conscious mindset

About the Role:

This is a hands‑on, physically active position where you’ll be on your feet and working both indoors and outdoors. You’ll be part of a friendly, knowledgeable team helping customers bring their garden and outdoor projects to life.

You’ll be responsible for providing helpful, informed product advice while supporting sales and delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves handling, lifting, and moving product safely and efficiently, as well as using ladders confidently and safely for merchandising and stock management. You’ll help maintain stock levels and merchandising standards, keep the department safe, tidy, and well presented, and work collaboratively with the team to create a welcoming environment for customers.

McAlpine’s have an active drug & alcohol policy in place, a pre‑employment drug test and medical will be required.
