Job summary

Cardrona Hotel in New Zealand seeks a Functions Coordinator to oversee our award-winning restaurant and coordinate weddings, garden hires, birthday parties, corporate functions and Christmas events.

You will manage the full functions lifecycle from first inquiry to post-event follow-up, lead the team, liaise with the head chef and management, and ensure compliance under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar fast-paced hospitality or function venue.
• Current New Zealand Managers Certificate.
• Ability to work quickly and safely; proactive with strong leadership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and ensure smooth running of functions and events by liaising with customers, the head chef, management and staff.
• Oversee the entire function lifecycle from initial inquiries to post-event follow-up.
• Work closely with kitchen, housekeeping and management to ensure effective communication.
• Hands-on involvement across hotel areas including restaurant, bar, reception and other duties as needed.
• Promote hotel functions including weddings and corporate bookings, staff parties and Christmas events.
• Manage the premises as the duty manager under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and ensure legal compliance and safety.
