Job summary

VisionWest Community Trust in Taupo is hiring seasonal support workers to assist individuals with daily living and independent living. You will work in clients’ homes across Taupo, providing care, meal planning, and activity support as part of a dedicated team.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, strong communication, and the ability to work flexible weekends with additional hours possible during the week.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient and empathetic attitude.
  • Reliable transportation to attend client homes.
  • Full or restricted driver’s licence required.
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand and undergo police vetting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care and daily living tasks.
  • Support clients with home management and housekeeping.
  • Monitor and assist with medication prompts and oversight.
  • Assist clients with walking and transfers to ensure safety.

For over 30 years, Visionwest Home Healthcare has been providing quality Home Healthcare and Individualised funding services for older adults and people living with disabilities with a team of over 1,300 support workers spread throughout the different regions.

We're looking for energetic, compassionate individuals who are eager to learn and make a difference. If you have a caring nature and a positive attitude, we'd love to hear from you. Our services cover a wide area across Taupo.

Our Support Workers are part of a dedicated and well-supported team, assisting our clients to live as independently as possible in their homes with a range of different tasks that include:

  • Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including meal planning and preparation according to the clients dietary requirements or request, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting the client's dignity and privacy.
  • Home Management: Perform basic housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, cleaning, and organizing, to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
  • Medication Oversight: Monitoring, assisting, checking, observing or prompting the client when taking their medication.
  • Manual Handling: Assist clients with walking and transferring, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and build rapport with clients.

  • Experience & Qualifications: Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with clients.
  • Personality: A compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to get to and from the client's home
  • Driver Licence: Must have a full or restricted driver's licence to be considered for the role
  • Working Rights: Be eligible to work in New Zealand. You must have the right to work in New Zealand, and you will be required to undergo police vetting and additional checks to be considered for this position.
