• Experience developing reports, dashboards and insights using Power BI and Excel.
• Ability to analyse financial and non-financial information and identify key drivers.

Help turn financial data into meaningful insights that support better decisions for Hamilton.

About the opportunity:

We are looking for a Financial Insights Analyst to join our Finance and Enabling Services group.

In this role, you will support the delivery of clear, accurate and timely financial and performance reporting. You will help prepare reports, dashboards and analysis that explain organisational performance, identify key trends and drivers, and support informed decision-making across Council.

Working alongside the Senior Financial Insights Analyst, Financial Reporting and Insights Manager and the wider Finance team, you will contribute to a more consistent and integrated view of financial and non-financial performance.

What you will be doing:

In this varied role, you will:

• Assist with preparing regular financial and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and analyse financial and non-financial data.
• Help identify trends, variances and the key drivers of organisational performance.
• Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI and Excel.
• Contribute to the automation and continuous improvement of reporting processes.
• Help combine financial and non-financial information into clear, integrated reporting.
• Work with Finance Business Partners and other teams to gather information and respond to reporting queries.
• Explain financial information in a clear, concise and practical way.
• Support consistent communication and presentation of financial information across the organisation.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics or an equivalent discipline.
• Chartered Accountant registration, progress towards a CA qualification, or an internationally recognised equivalent qualification.
• Experience in financial analysis, performance reporting, decision support, business case development or a related discipline within a large or complex organisation.
• Experience developing reports, dashboards and insights using tools such as Power BI and Excel.
• The ability to analyse financial and non-financial information and identify the information that matters most.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• A positive and proactive approach, with a willingness to learn and continue developing your analytical and reporting capability.
• A high level of integrity, professionalism and commitment to accuracy.
• Experience in a capital-intensive, infrastructure, local government or similarly complex environment would be an advantage.
