Job summary

Downer is seeking a Finance Business Partner for its Telco New Zealand team, based at Kerrs Road, Auckland. This senior role partners with operational and commercial leaders to deliver strategic financial insights and drive performance across major telecom contracts.

The role reports to the Finance Manager - Telco NZ and offers long-term growth, development opportunities, and exposure to Tier 1 contracts within a leading infrastructure services company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Finance Business Partnering, Commercial Finance, FP&A, Project Accounting or Management Accounting.
• CA or CPA qualification, with a tertiary degree in Accounting/Finance or a related discipline.
• Experience in infrastructure/telecom/contract-based industries and strong stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans for the Telco NZ portfolio.
• Deliver accurate financial reporting, insights and performance analysis for decision-making.
• Develop and maintain project financial models, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Partner with operational, engineering, commercial and finance teams to drive performance.
• Support major project bids and commercial opportunities through pricing and modelling.

Join Downer's Telco New Zealand team as a Finance Business Partner and play a key role in supporting some of New Zealand's largest telecommunications contracts. Partner with operational and commercial leaders, provide strategic financial insights, and help drive business performance in a highly visible role offering strong career development and long-term growth opportunities.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join Downer's Telco New Zealand team, based at our Kerrs Road office in Auckland.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager - Telco NZ, you'll play a critical role in supporting the financial performance of some of New Zealand's largest non-government telecommunications contracts. Partnering closely with operational leaders, project managers and commercial stakeholders, you'll provide strategic financial insights, drive commercial outcomes, and support key decision-making across the business.

This is a highly visible role where you'll influence business performance, strengthen financial frameworks, contribute to sustainable project delivery, and support the ongoing development of the wider finance team. Working within a complex contract environment, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact while building strong relationships across multiple functions.

This is a full-time, permanent position based on site in Auckland, New Zealand.

• Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and business plans across the Telco NZ portfolio.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially astute finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced and complex project environment.

• 10+ years' experience in Finance Business Partnering, Commercial Finance, FP&A, Project Accounting or Management Accounting.
• CA or CPA qualified, supported by a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Strong experience within infrastructure, telecommunications, utilities, construction, field services or other contract-based industries.
• Proven ability to develop budgets, forecasts, financial models and performance reporting while influencing key stakeholders.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS standards and experience with financial systems such as OneStream and JDEGS.
