Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead the governance and delivery of multiple concurrent projects in Auckland, NZ. Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you will unite projects into a cohesive programme and drive performance, customer satisfaction, risk management and continuous improvement.

You will provide direction to Project Managers and delivery teams, manage revenue and margins, and maintain strong stakeholder engagement across senior customers.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7+ years of project or programme management experience.
  • At least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing multiple project teams.
  • Proven experience delivering projects end to end with significant financial accountability.
  • Strong commercial, financial and forecasting capability.
  • Experience working with senior leadership teams and customers.
  • Advanced stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Leadership and coaching capability with strong risk management and problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent will be highly regarded.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to join our Telco NZ business in Auckland. Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you will lead the governance and delivery of multiple concurrent projects across a range of customers, contracts and workstreams.

You will bring individual projects together as a coordinated programme, providing clear direction to Project Managers and delivery teams while maintaining accountability for performance, financial outcomes, customer satisfaction, risk management and continuous improvement. As the primary escalation point for project delivery issues, you will help create consistency across planning, execution, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading multiple projects across different customers and workstreams as an integrated programme
  • Establishing programme priorities, delivery strategies and performance expectations
  • Providing leadership, direction and coaching to Project Managers and delivery teams
  • Managing programme revenue, margin, profitability, cash flow and forecasting

You will be a strategic and commercially focused programme leader who can bring people, projects and priorities together. You will be comfortable operating in a complex delivery environment, engaging with senior customers and making informed decisions based on programme and financial performance.

You will bring:
