INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION & TRADING LIMITED is seeking a Field Fire Building Compliance Technician – Whangarei to join a busy carpentry team. The role focuses on reviewing drawings, sourcing materials, and building structures with timber while ensuring safety standards.

The ideal candidate has at least two years in construction or a related certificate, strong communication and teamwork skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on site.

Qualifications

• At least two years of work experience in construction, or a certificate in a construction-related area can replace the work experience requirement.
• Good communication and coordination skills to work as a team member.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation methods.
• Order and select timber and building materials, ensuring accuracy in quantity and quality.
• Prepare layouts, cut materials to size, and assemble components using nails, screws, and adhesives.
• Construct and install framework, roof structures, sub-flooring, and floorboards, ensuring structural accuracy.
• Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior cladding, and door and window frames.
• Assemble and fit pre-cut wood to form structures and fittings for installation.
• Cut and shape wood joints for strong and secure connections.
• Repair and modify existing fixtures and fittings.
• Adhere to health and safety standards.
• Other reasonable tasks required by management.
